State-Wide Forums to Address Most Common Chronic Diseases
Las Cruces, NM, March 30, 2009 -- Southern New Mexico community members, public health officials, policy makers, and others will gather this Friday in the first of two state-wide forums. The day-long events will focus on the most prevalent, costly, and, in many cases, preventable of all health problems. These include heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, arthritis and asthma. Given that six of ten New Mexicans who die each year succumb to a chronic condition, particapnts will be charged with generating specific recommendations on community, school, business, healthcare and government-driven actions to better prevent and manage these illnesses.
Forum Title: Partnering for a Healthy Tomorrow: Preventing and Managing Chronic Disease in New Mexico
Convener: The New Mexico Department of Health on behalf of the Healthy New Mexico Task Force
Organizer: New Mexico First
